The Marmara Foundation has
broken new ground
Membership of the Republic of
Montenegro to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of the
Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) and the Organization of the
Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) which was exist before as the
State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, and then canceled after the
State Union effectively came to an end because of Montenegro's
formal declaration of independence on June 3, 2006, is on the agenda
again in the light of the proposal of the Marmara Foundation which
is an observer member of PABSEC.
Dr. Akkan Suver, President of the Marmara Foundation, has taken H.E.
Ambassador Leonidas Chrysanthopoulos, Secretary General of the BSEC,
and Hon. Prof. Dr. Asaf Hadjiyev, Member of the Azerbaijani
Parliament and the President of the Assembly of the PABSEC, to
Montenegro and consequently established the first senior official
contact between the Republic of Montenegro and the PABSEC and the
BSEC. Dr. Akkan Suver has made a declaration after the visit of the
delegation:
Authorities of the PABSEC and the BSEC have paid a courtesy call to
H.E. Ranko Krivokapić, the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic
of Montenegro, together as the first common visit in the
16-year-long history of these organizations. It is cited that the
Republic of Montenegro will officially answer to the invitation of
authorities of the PABSEC and the BSEC in the coming days.

Declaration of Dr. Akkan Suver:
“-I have brought into sharp relief possible membership of the
Republic of Montenegro, reminding the former membership of the State
Union of Serbia and Montenegro, in my intervention during the
sessions of Thirty-First General Assembly of the PABSEC which was
held, in Athens, in the last month.
I have invited H.E. Ambassador Leonidas Chrysanthopoulos, Secretary
General of the BSEC, and Hon. Prof. Dr. Asaf Hadjiyev, Member of the
Azerbaijani Parliament and the President of the Assembly of the
PABSEC, to Montenegro after their positive approaches to my
application. They have kindly accepted it.
They, as authorities of the PABSEC and the BSEC, have officially
visited to Montenegro together through the medium of the Marmara
Foundation, as the first common visit in the 16-year-long history of
these organizations. Authorities of the PABSEC and the BSEC who were
received by H.E. Ranko Krivokapić, the Speaker of the Parliament of
the Republic of Montenegro, have invited the Republic of Montenegro
to membership as a full or an observer member state. Consequently
the Marmara Foundation has broken new ground making an international
organization and a state come together.” |
