THE MARMARA GROUP FOUNDATION
GRANTED MEMBERSHIP BY PABSEC

Marmara Group Foundation was accepted as “the Observer Member” to the PABSEC, the body that has been continuing its works on the level of parliamentarians since 1993.

Speaking on the occasion of the first-ever admission of a non-governmental organization (NGO) as an observer to the PABSEC, the President of the Marmara Group Foundation, Dr. Akkan Suver, said

“We have successfully represented our country as an NGO on numerous occasions for the past 21 years. We are currently representing our country in the United Nations, UNESCO and Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) with the status of “consultative member”. In addition, we are a principal member in the Balkan Politics Club.

The PABSEC has been participating in and contributing to our Eurasian economic summits that we have been organizing successfully for 9 years.

Shortly after the 9th Eurasian Economic Summit this year, we applied to the PABSEC as an NGO for “observer membership”.

As Azerbaijan was the term president of the body, I have delivered a speech introducing our foundation in the Azerbaijani National Assembly before the representatives of 12 countries. Afterwards, our “observer membership” to the PABSEC was approved unanimously. The members of our Executive Council, Engin Koklucinar, Ogan Soysal, Samil Avrim and Cengiz Guldamlasi also participated in the assembly.

We are very glad for we have been able to realize this outstanding attempt in terms of the Turkish civil society movement with the aim of contributing to the promotion of our country as an NGO and supporting and serving the improvement of relations between the countries of the region. This success and pleasure belong to the Turkish civil society.”
